Following upon recent representa tion 3 by farmers and dairy farmers in Victoria, who urged that a special State fund should be created to compensate owners for the loss of cattle destroyed on the.outbreak of pleuropneumonia and -other;cattle diseases, Hhe Assistant-Minister of Agriculture (Mr Livingston) lias framed <a Bill providing for the cumpulsory insurance of cattle,, states the Melbourne j "Age." The Bill, which will be j submitted to the Legislative Assembly early in the forthcoming session, will provide for the payment by owners of an annual premium, of 6d a head of cattle. At present Tasmania is the only place with a similar Bill in operation. PARTNER OF GOOD HEALTH.
