The Upper Hutt police yesterday found the body of a man lying beneath an over-turned motor car on Gore Road, between Upper Hutt and Pahautanui, which was identified as that of D. J. Smeetzer.

Deceased, it is understood, was recently demobilised from the forces, in which he held the rank of major. During the war he performed the duties of adjutant at Trentham, and was a well-known figure in camp. He is reported to Tiave been in the motor business since his discharge. He was a married man with a family, and he resided atXPetone.—Press Assn.
