A CHANGE OF UNIFORM.
FIVE THOUSAND POLICE,
(Australian and N.Z. etc. and Reuter.) (Press Assn.—<Recd. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 16. The War Council endorses the action of releasing 5000 Metropolitan police for military service on January 1. This will probably result in the extension of the hours of duty from eight to twelve for those who remain and also an extra day's duty fortnightly.
