A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

LARGE BOARDING-HOUSE,

PAHIATUA, April 12. A fire at 2 a.m. rased to the ground 1 a two-storey building of 18 rooms, iised as a boarding-hause, and,known as the Coffee Palace. The fire' had a good grip when discovered. The inmates escaped in their slight attire. Nothing was savedl. The night was perfectly calm, and the brigade was able to save the adjoining houses. The building was owned by Jacob Siemonek, of Masterton, and occupied by Mrs Mackay. The insurance on the building is £600 and on the furniture £350, in the New Zealand office, the owner holding a portion of the latter risk.
