EX-CAPTAIN KNYVETT.
RE-TRIAL APPEAL LODGED.
AUCKLAND, Dec. 9
Advice has been received from exCaptain Knyvett, now resident in Christchurch, that he has lodged his appeal for a re-trial on the charges for which he was dismissed from the service in January last. The Defence Act passed during the recent session of Parliament made the re-trial of Captain Knyvett's case oossible, but nothing further cquld be done until General Godley, the new commandant, prrived, and Captain Knyvett was obliged to postpone lodging his appeal. Colonel Godley landed at Wellington on Wednesday, and Captain Knyvett immediately availed himself of the opportunity and forwarded his appeal. A reply is expected shortly.
