A BORROWED BLANK CHEQUE

AUCKLAND, Dec. 9

Scott was staying at the Empire Hotel, and when about to pay his board he asked the licensee's wife for a blank cheque, as he did not have his own bank book with him. A cheque was procured, and Scott filled it in for £10. The cheque was cashed, and after the amount owed was taken out, £G 10s Gd was returned to accused. It was then found that Scott had no banking account, and the cheque *-vas valueless. When accosted by Detective Cox. the accused admitted that lie had no account, and was immediately arrested.
