FOUND ON THE BEACH.

SETTLER'S DEAD BODY

ACCIDENTAL DROWNING PRE-

SUMED,

NAPIER, Sept. 22

Yesterday the body of A. Schaare, a settler on the Tongoio estate, was found on the beach near that plare. He was last seen alive by a neighboring settler's wife, on the tenth inst., but his absence from the place caused no anxiety, as it was thought that he had gone to visit his wife, who resides at Makotuku. On the 20th, as he had not returned, a search party was formed, with the above result. Apparently he had been dead some days. The circumstances point to accidental drowning, as his clothes, with a towel on the top, were found on the beach.
