STERN MEASURES OF REPRESSION.
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 22. T!iefts of bicycles have become ye -y common in Christchurch and complaints are constantly being made to the police. At the Court this morning Mr ih'shop, S.M., said that he had'killed this crime once and would have vo kill it again. John McNair, who pleaded guilty to the theft of a bicycle in the City, gave the Magistrate an opportunity to emphasise his words, and was sent to gaol for three months-
