21st BIRTHDAY PARTY

“Bonspiel” the residence of Mr and Mrs A. J. McPherson, Coal Creek, was brightly lighted and gaily decorated on Friday evening last, on the occasion of their son, All, attaining his majority. Guests and friends to the number of 100 had gathered from far and near and a happy evening was spent in dancing, in song and with numerous games on the lawn. A bounteous supper was set up on long tables on the spacious verandah. Upon this important item being dispensed with Mr A. J. McPherson called for the lights to be put out and a lighted birthday cake was moved forward. Alf extinguished the candles and Mr A. J. McPherson presented him with the key of the house and in a few words congratulated him upon attaining ihis majority and wished him every success. After “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’ had been sung Mr F. J. Tamblyn also spoke in congratulatory terms. Mr W. Craig called upon Mr and Mrs A. J. McPherson to move forward and asked Mrs McPherson to accept a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation as well as congratulations from the guests assembled there that evening, whereupon all sang “For they are jolly good fellows.” Mr Alf McPherson thanked all present for coming along, for their good wishes and trusted that each and everyone had enjoyed the evening throughly. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” terminated a happy and enjoyable evening.
