At its meeting yesterday the Oroua County Council approved of the request of the headmaster of the Ashhurst School (Mr. It. N. Finlay) for recognition of a pedestrian crossing pver the main highway near the school, in terms of the Traffic (Road Crossing) Regulations recently gazetted. This provides for approval of school patrols to regulate traffic when children were using the road. A meeting of the committee of the Feilding Home Servicemen’s Association was held on Tuesday, when Mr. P. C. Miles presided. Messrs A. Redding and K. Noble gave ' a report on the conference held in Palmerston North recently. Preliminary arrangements for a social reunion were made, the chairman stating that at the function members would be given short reports on the various phases of the association’s activities. The secretary (Air. K. Noble) said that the membership had now reached 100, and several ex-ser-vicewomen had intimated that they would like to join. In order to render every possible assistance to members seeking information regarding employment, 'pensions, rehabilitation, and other problems, sub-committees were set up as follow: Social and publicity, Messrs C. A. McCall, G. Jaggard, L. Silcock, H. R. Hill and A. Redding; housing, Alessrs P. C. Aliles, Lourie, L. Pickering and S. Pearse; rehabilitation, Messrs W. Groom, A. E. Dewe, Thomas and Pask; executive, Alessrs Pearse, McCall, Silcock, Dewe, Groom, Pickering, Hill and Thomas, with the president, vice-president and secretary exofficio.
