Feilding Voluntary Aids

V.A.D.’s of the Feilding Red Cross Society held a social evening in honour ot Major K. G. Salmond, N.Z.M.C., Mrs. K. Stewart and Dr. W. M. Maclaurin on Wednesday evening, the purpose being to extend a welcome back to Dr. Salmond and Mrs. Stewart and to offer good wishes

to Dr. Maclaurin who has volunteered lor service with the Forces. Both members of the medical profession had rendered much instructional service to the Feilding V.A.D.’s and during the absence of Dr. Salmond overseas Dr. Maclaurin had assisted with a series of lectures. Mrs. Stewart (nee Paddy Levin) was a member of the organisation before going overseas. The Mayor (Mr. T. L. Seddon), on behalt of the gathering, warmly welcomed back to Feilding Dr. Salmond and Mrs. Stewart and also extended greetings to Sister Dougall who recently returned from extensive service with the Forces in the Middle East. Mrs. W. J. Borrie, superintendent of the society, also spoke in support of the Mayor, who referred to the good work of Dr. Maclaurin whom they were sorry to lose. To him the society extended its very best wishes and the hope for his speedy return. Dr. Salmond gave an interesting address on frontline surgery. During the evening musical items were contributed by Mesdaihes D. Moore, Chambers, H. C. Morgan, D. Younger, J. G. Eliott, D. Warburton, Farmer and Misses N. Silcock and HSomerset.
