No secret for longevity can be given by Mr. George Davy, Fitzroy, who celebrated lus 91st birthday on Thursday. Some might say the explanation is that he does not smoke or drink intoxicating liquors, but others would aver the answer is many healthy years in the saddle as a member of the Armed Constabulary, including service as orderly to Colonel Roberts during the Parihaka raid in ISBI. It is not Mr. Davy’s age that is so remarkable—others have lived as long —but his mental and physical activity. He plays bowls for the Fitzroy club, lie writes a fair hand without effort, and lie can hold his own at chess or draughts. After an absence of almost exactly three years, Air Commodore L. M. Issii, C.8.E., lias returned to New Zealand for duty with the R.N.Z.A.F. lie recently relinquished the post of ofliccr commanding R.N.Z.A.F. Headquarters, London. On his way to New Zealand lie visited air bases in the Pacific. Commodore Issit was promoted to his present, rank in May of last year. In March, 19.40, he went to Canada as representative of the New Zealand Government on the supervisory board set up to administer the Empire Air Training Scheme in that country. Subsequently he was sent as air attache to the New Zealand Legation in Washington when Hon. W. Nash was appointed Minister there. From Washington ho went to London as first ofliccr to command the R.N.Z.A.F. Headquarters. His position there has been filled by Air Commodore A de T. Neville, C.B.E.
