Tragedy at Orphanage
LONDON, Feb. 24. A tire at.2 o’clock in the morning destroyed a female orphanage attached to the convent of the Poor Clare Nuns at Cavan Town, Ireland. The tire spread to tierce proportions in a few minutes. Borne of the children rushed screaming from tho building in their night clothes. Others jumped 40ft. from windows. The total death roll was 3G. Thirteen others are in hospital. Tho flames were under control at 5 a.m., after which rescue squads, including soldiers, searched the debris for bodies. The town declared a day of niouring and all businesses were closed.
