Bush Rugby Referees’ Association

A GOOD YEAR In presenting his report to the annual meeting of the Bush Referees’ Association, held in Messrs. Watts and Lawry’s garage last night, Mr. H. Rodgers (Eketahuna) stated that the balance-sheet showed a small increaso on last year’s. Fourteen teams from nine clubs took jdace the competitions.

The games controlled were 83, including four representative matches. The membership (9) was an increase of one on last year. The new member, Mr. Brown, gave a good account of himself.

The chairman expressed thanks to the members for their service and cooperation and looked forward to seeing them in action during the coming season, and also thanks to Messrs. Watts and Lawry for the use of their

A vote of appreciation was passed to Mr. It. Kemp for his unstinted services as first-aid man.

The following officers were elected: Patron, 11. Cotter (Ngaturi); president, Mr. E. Fisher; vice-presidents, Megsrs. K. Irvine, S. J. O’Regan (Eketahuna), G. Groves, R. Sillett (Pahiatua), L. T. Russell (Woodville), F. Webb (Hukanui), D. Brosnahan (Konini), H. Russell (Hamua), R. Williams (Mangatainoka) and R. Lawrence (Nireaha); representative to Rugby Union, W. H. Lawry; hon. secretary, R. Bridge; hon. treasurer, C. C. Smyth; selectors for referees, Messrs. B. Harvey and W. H. Lawry. In taking over the chair, Mr. Fisher contended that Rugby will be to the lore again in the coming season. The commencement of the season may be a little difficult, but the clubs will soon settle down and the union will find the .referees prepared for all demands, j Mr. R. G. Todd and Mr. J. Davies were elected new members.

The following referees will be available for the season: V. Brown, W. Lawry, E. Matson, H. Rodgers, E. Fisher* C. Skiltou, B. Harvey, W. Ryan,

J. Sandman, D. Foster, J. Davies and K. G. Todd. A vote of thanks passed to the press concluded the meeting.
