Sandon
(From Our Own Correspondent.) National Party Candidate Opportunity was taken by members of tho iSandon branch of tho National Partv to meet Mr. E. W. Barnett, the party's candidate for tho Manawatu electorate at tho forthcoming elections at a social evening tendered him at Sandon. Mrs. Barnett also attended and was presented with a sheaf of dahlias. Mr. J. G. Wilson, deputy president of tho local branch in extending a welcome to both Mr. and Mrs. Barnett said that tho members were pleased to have tho opportunity of meeting them and ho hoped that before the evening concluded they would meet all those presenl. In replying, Mr. Barnett said that both he and Mis. Barnett were pleased to como to Sandon to meet tho people. Items were given by Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Rowe, Misses F. and M. Anderson, Misses N., J., and T. Masters and Miss Ngaire Lawrence. Mesdames E. H. Barber and C. Miller acted as accompanistes and played the music for dancing. their two daughters, Mrs. Len Hose and iMrs. G. Bose. | Mr. L. Thompson, Main South Hoad, who was in camp, is homo for a few weeks on sick leave. | Mr. W. Forbes, who was working in the district, has entered camp at Wanganui. j Mr. E. Beilski, Main South Road, left *on Tuesday to enter camp at Trcntham.
