(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Bangiwahia Horticultural and Industrial Society it ■was disclosed by the secretary, Mr. L. C. Moiklejobn, that the nett profit ot the 1941 patriotic show was something over £7O. This was regarded by the committee as a very creditable effort and the president, Mr. E. L. Jenkins, and the secretary were complimented upon the result. Appreciation was expressed at tho magnificent response of the local people and the support of numerous business houses and firms in I'eilding and Palmerston North. Thanhs* are due to the ladies who undertook the whole of tho catering for the show. Mrs. Caskie’s envelope competition alone netted over £2B for the society and thanks are due to her for this splendid contribution. The local patriotic fund will receive tho whole of these profits, which will form a handsome contribu tion to the total already subscribed by Bangiwahia district. Card Evening The first of a series of cards and dances was held in the Kuahinc hall for the purpose of raising funds for the school and hall committees. There was a nice gathering present and after cards dancing was carried out till midnight. Many had to play off for the prizes and the results wore as follows:—Ladies, Mesdames E. Pearson, A. McMillan and W. Evans, the latter proving the winner; consolation, Mrs. C. Hall and Mrs. "W. Carr. Mrs. Carr being the winner. Men, Mr. W. Sullivan and Mrs. W. Evans. Mrs. Evans being the winner; consolation, Mr. H. Jacob and Mr. Glcnliill. The latter proving the winner. Music for dancing was supplied by Miss M. Thompson and Mr. 15. Thompson. Supper was served by the ladies’ committee. Football A few attended the annual meeting of the Rangiwahia Football Club. As very little interest is being shown, foot* bali for this district has been cancelled for the duration of the war. Personal Mr. and Mrs. Hinkley of Levin have been spending a short holiday with
