Palmerston North Hospital
MOITHLY MEETING OF BOARD Present at the monthly meeting of tho Palmerston North Hospital Board were: Mr. J. A. Nash (in the chair), Mrs. M. Aitchison and Messrs. A. E. Mansford, C. P. Jensen, V. E. Smith, J. Batchclar, J. Hodgens, M.P., T. Green, G. A. Monk, D. Collis, W. Howell, J. Boyce, M. E. Perreau and J. H. Williamson. A letter from the Director-General of Health (Dr. M. 11. Watt) advised that the Foxton Borough Council was averse to the proposal put forward by the Manawatu County Council for the grouping of the borough with other small boroughs for the purpose of representation on the hospital Board. Accordingly it had been decided not to recommend that the suggestion be given effect to. The managing secretary (Mr. A. J. Phillipps) reported that details of the emergency precautions scheme for the whole of the district had been completed. The work on the isolation hospital was progressing satisfactorily, while the plans and specifications for the Nurses' Home building were with the Department. Tho social welfare report disclosed that 54 rations had been issued to eight cases during March, as compared with 100 rations to 18 cases during the corresponding month of 1940. ' Advice was received from tho Direc-tor-General of Health that the Awapuni Home had now been classified as a hospital which was in part an old people's home.
