New Zealand Croquet Council

GOLD AND SILVER MALLETS COMPETITION Perfect weather conditions favoured the croquet players assembled in Palmerston North for the annual contest for the gold and silver mallets which opened yesterday. The competition is being managed by Mrs. S. J. Parlces with headquarters at Manawatu lawus and Mrs. K. McDonald in charge at the Northern Club’s grounds.

With some of the cream of the croquet players present, and lawns in first-class order, some excellent games

were witnessed and good progress was made for the opening day. Mrs. W. J. Robertson, president of tho Manawatu Croquet Association, welcomed the visitors, expressing the hope that all would enjoy the fixture. Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Wanganui and Manawatu players are participating. Following were yesterday’s results:— Mrs. L.
