Successful Evening to Aid Soldiers’ Parcels
MUSIC CIRCLE RAISES £9 Organised by the music circle of the Palmerston North Townswomen’s Guild l a most successful evening was held at the Y.W.C.A. clubrooms on Wednesday evening to aid the funds of the parcels . branch of the Patriotic Committee J which benefited to the extent of £9. I There was a very large attendance and a fine programme had been arranged as follows:—Vocal solos, 3lrs. D. Niven and Miss F. Doherty; playette, IMilson Women’s Institute; humorous items, Mr. L. Wood; elocutionary, Mesdames M. Dymock and C. J. Rowley; J glees, singing circle; vocal duets, Mes- ! dames C. Jamieson and Ax; pianoforte duets, 3lesdames J. Riddle and Whitehead. I Competition winners wore Mrs. Brown and Mrs. D. Rabone. 3!rs. A. E. Mansford, president of the guild, was present and voiced her appreciation of tho occasion. Mrs. Bigkam, leader of the music circle, handed over the money to 3lrs. i Northey, convener of the parcels branch, 1 who feelingly returned thanks.
