Feilding and District School Sports

CONTROL BODY MEETS A meeting of the committee of the Feilding and District Public Schools’ Amateur Athletic Association was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. W. H. Smith (president) presiding. Before taking the ordinary business reference was made to the passing of Mr. D. G. Warner, of Kopane, and the meeting stood in silence in carrying a resolution of'sympathy with the relatives. Mr. Warner had rendered many years of valuable service to the organisation and his passing was much regretted by all connected with the association. The secretary (Mr. C. V. Jewell) presented a financial statemetn covering the last sports meeting snowing that, despite a considerable drop iu the “gate,” due to counter attractions and the petrol restrictions, various economies effected had resulted iu the bal-ance-sheet showing a credit only one or two pounds less thau last year. It was agreed to pay out to the schools concerned on the same basis as last year, namely, 4d a point, absorbing £ll Bs.

Discussing recommendations covering the conduct of future sports meetings, it was agreed to recommend to the annual meeting that the association take over the handling of the catering and the running of stalls, etc.
