MANAWATU v. ASHBURTON Next Saturday at the Showgrounds tho Manawatu team will make its final appearance before the southern tour. Changes iu form have been responsible for considerable alterations to the Manawatu teams which played against Wellington and Wanganui, and it is popularly conceded that tne team selected for the game against Ashburton is a stronger and moro balanced side. This and other matches against Otago 1 and North Otago prior to the Southland game will give the team an opportunity to develop combination before the Raufurly Shield challenge match. The Ashburton team has already proved its mettle by keeping the so far unbeaten Wanganui team to a threepoints margin last Saturday. The visiting team contains many first-class players and in particular Rugbyites will re-, j cognise M. Behrn, the Ashburton full j back (and one-time Canterbury reprej sentative) a player well up to the best provincial standard. Patrons aro reminded that the game starts earlier than usual and the kick-off is timed for 2.15 p.m.
