Small Rooms
A small room can be made to look more roomy if care is exercised in the| choice of furnishings and in arranging the furniture. In giving consideration to this problem, start with the walls. Wallpaper that is largo in pattern or dark in colour is unsuitable. Choose small patterns and light colours. Paper with vertical stripes will suggest added height to the walls. Never put a deep frieze or low pic-J ture rail in a small room. Both have! the effect of reducing the height oil the room. A small room should always contain the minimum amount of furniture! necessary for its purpose. In a bedroom, low beds and furniture will look; much more appropriate than other types. Floor coverings for small rooms should be of small patterns and light colours. A large mirror placed rather low, and facing the window, will help to supply the illusion of size. Pictures, if any, should be verv small. Curtains should be of transparent, not opaque material.
