Foreigners Attacked
BRITON AND AMERICAN AS VICTIMS LONDON, July 23. A Japanese naval sentry at Hankow attacked and temporarily detained Mr R. A. Baker, paymaster on the United States gunboat Guam, for walking on the forbidden side of a street. The sentry previously had insisted or, foreigners lemoving their hat*. Puppet Chinese police at Shanghai beat Mr J. Watson, municipal police inspector, with rifle butts while he was tearing down anti-British posters. Italian marines expelled the puypet police from the Settlement.
