Young Fanners as Debaters

FINAL OF THE INTER-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP The final of the above contest has been postponed until 8 p.m., Monday next, July 3, owing to tho inability of the .Northern Hawke’s Bay team to travel to Palmerston North this week. This contest, which marks the culmination of a lengthy series of debates, will be held in the Massey Agricultural College Assembly Hall and a cordial invitation is oxtended to the general public to attend. Admission will be free. The finalists are Northern Hawke’s Bay (represented by tho Wairoa Young Farmers’ Club team, consisting of Messrs. W. G. Brownlie, leader, H. M. B. de Lautour and B. E. Parkiuton), who will take the affirmative of the subject, “That disease control in stock is of greater economic importance than the breeding of highly producing strains of stock,” against Manawatu (represented by tho Apiti Young Farmers’ Club team, consisting of Messrs. H. Viles, leader, A. Viles and H. Cowan). Mr. E. W. Barnett, of Halcombo (chairman of the Wellington Council) will preside and the judge will be Mr. Gordon Eliott, of Feilding. It is interesting to note that the winners of Monday’s contest will journey to Ruakura on July 13 to debate against the Auckland Young Farmers’ Club Council team for the North Island Championship.
