Vehicle Runs Into A Stationary Car THREE OTHERS INJURED Per Press Association. TIMARU, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred about a mile from Fairlie on Saturday evening, the victim being Humphreys Frederick Brosnahan, aged 29. He and two companions were returning from a football match at Fairlie when the car which was driven by Brosnahan ran into a car which was pulled up on the roadside owing to a broken petrol pipe. Brosnahan was thrown heavily against the steering wheel, suffering severe injuries to his chest, and he died before medical aid arrived. His companions suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the stationary car, John Cresswell Harrison, of Winchester, was knocked over when the impact occurred but he escaped with minor injuries. HUSBAND AND WIFE INJURED MOTOR CYCLE COLLIDES WITH CAR Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. When & motor cycle on which they were travelling came into collision with a car on a bend on the Napier-Taradale Road at 7.15 last night a man and his wife were thrown off, suffering severe injuries. The injured were: John Murtagh, aged 26, of Hastings, concussion, head lacerations and fractured arm. Henrietta Murtagh, concussion, lacerations and shock. Murtagh was admitted to the Napier Hospital. His condition is reported to be satisfactory. His wife was later discharged, her injuries not being serious. COLLISION NEAR LEVIN MAN IN HOSPITAL From Our Own Correspondent. LEVIN, Last Night. Chest injuries and bruises on the right arm were suffered by Robert George Miller, Tirangi Road, Kilbirnie, when the car he was driving came into collision with a motor-truck driven by Mr. J. F. Young, of Levin, at about 6.30 on Saturday night. The accident happened on a straight stretch of road about four miles north of Levin. The car struck the tray of the truck which tore its right hand side completely off, the car then careering across the road, knocking a white guide post over, running down a bank and eventually coming to rest by colliding head-on with a willow tree. Three passengers in the car escaped injury. Mr. Miller was conveyed to the Palmerston North Hospital, where his condition was reported last night to be satisfactory. CAR FALLS OVER A 100-FOOT BANK DRIVER ESCAPES WITH MINOR INJURIES From Our Own Correspondent. PAHIATUA, Last Night. While travelling south of Eketahuna on the Main Road on Saturday morning, a car somersaulted over a 100 ft. bank, through a fence, coming to rest in a paddock. The accident was witnessed by a passing motorist who met the driver of the car struggling to the top of the bank and who then took him in to Dr. Simmers, of Eketahuna. Later the driver of the car was conveyed to Pahiatua Public Hospital Buffering from minor cuts, shock and the loss of some front teeth. The car had a Hastings registration number and w T as extensively damaged. The driver of the car was later identified as Mr. Melville Francis Fry.
