It is understood that Colonel Beck, Polish Foreign Minister, at present visiting London, is prepared to offer Britain a pledge of reciprocal guarantees in the event, of aggression against vital British interests in Western Europe. Comment in Polish newspapers emphasises the need for national unity. The newspapers feature on the front page a speech of the Nationalist Party leader, M. Kowalski, declaring that if war c’omes it will he the result of German aggression. 'lf Germany takes another step eastward she must be stopped by the sword. ‘ POLISH MINISTER’S ARRIVAL A HARMLESS HOAX LONDON, April 3. The Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, welcomed tlie Polish Foreign Minister, Colonel Beck, on his arrival in London. Tho strictest police precautions were taken, and photographer’s cases were examined. A bomb which was discovered on a bus on London Bridge proved to be a harmless hoax. PLEDGE TO POLAND WILL BE HONOURED MEANING NOT TO BE MISTAKEN LONDON, April 3. In a speech at Liverpool, the Secretary for Air, Sir Kingsley Wood, said: "Let no one mistake the meaning and weight of Britain’s pledge to Poland. It was not lightly given, and once given, we will honour it. I believe we can look forward with confidence) not only because of our rising strength, the unity of our people, and response by other nations, but because it is all based on the rock of justice and right." POLAND AND LITHUANIA TO SIGN PACT KAUNAS, April 3. A Lithuanian-Polish non-aggression pact is expected to be signed shortly. It is believed that the pact is intended as a bulwark against future German aggression. The Lithuanian public greatly favours solidarity with Poland. SOVIET DENIAL WAR MATERIALS TO POLAND MOSCOW, April 3. It is officially denied that the Soviet has undertaken to supply Poland with war materials.
