Reaving Wellington by paddle steamer, ± oxtpn was taeir destination, and ironi there they came to raimerston North on the old wooden tramline. Palmerston North and> district was ner home for many years anu sne finally settled at Bunny tfiorpo, where she became much loved for hei sterling qualities. Of a retiring nature there yet evolved around her a wide circle of friends whose welfare was ever her first tfiougfit. Mrs. Squire possessed an excellent memory, and many were tfie tales told by fier of the nardships of the early days when all were forever helping each other, cementing those invisiole yet intangible bonds of love and friendship meting tnrougn the long years which followed. Mrs. fcquire was predeceased by hc-r husuana some yoara ago. Left to mourn their loss are six daughters anti one son—Mrs. W. F. Ellis ( Vv auganui;, Mrs. J. W. Cleveiy (Bunnytuorpe;, fiirs. G. M. Eansou (A'almorstou North;, Miss faquire (Bunny thorpo;, Mrs. J. Eaw (Palmerston North;, Mrs. J. Lee (WarKworth) and Mr. W. It. J. bquire (New Plymouth;. Two daughters, Mrs. A. Carson and Mrs. C. flay don, predeceased their mother. There are also 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchil-dren. The interment took place on Beptember I, a large cortege testifying to the esteem iu which tne deceased lady was held. The bearers were sons iu-law and grandsons. MRS. H. BARLOW The passing this week of Mrs. H. Barlow, of ftoretaunga street, removes ono whose active interest in all movements for good won her a host of Inends. 'the deceased lady was a daughter of Mr. A. ft. Baggarly, of Carterton, and she was educated at the Mastertou fligu School, later joining the Post and Telegraph Department.
