Y.W.C.A. Centre for Napier
TO BE OPENED SHORTLY Napier is about to see the inauguraI tion of a Y.W.C.A. centre available for all the girls and young women. This enterprise is in the capable hands of a representative group of women citizens, and may count upon the. goodwill and support of public spirited and thoughtful men and women, who aro well aware of the trends of bur day, and the value lof wholesome recreation as a characterbuilding factor, states an exchange. The idea is to have a girls ’ club room as a centra for the interests of young people—sports, drama and crafts groups, physical education in various forms, and social gatherings, j Through the variety of interests girls will have opportunity to make friendships, to develop their talents, to widen their outlook and to learn in a group of friends the art of thoughtful self government which will be an asset all through life. A typical Y.W.C.A. club centre has every aspect of girl life represented in it—young business girls, young women engaged in household employment and in industry, and young married women. There is a niche for everyone. In the words of the New Zealand Y.W.C.A., its purpose is ‘Ho help girls to find a definite purpose in life, to be honest anl fearless in thou thinking, and to attain the fullest appreciation of the joys of friendship, service and beauty.” * ‘The Y.W.C.A. in service for the girls of Napier’* is a slogan which should meet with a generous response.
