Miss Hilda Fancourt, of Auckland, is che guest of Mrs Nevins, Pahiatua. Miss Ann Caldwell, of Fcilding, is making a short stay at Wanganui. Mrs. Oswald Meyrick, of Aokautere, is on a brief visit to her mother, Mrs. Norman Gorton, of Foilding. Miss Roach, Palmerston North, has returned from a visit to Mrs. J. Roach, Martinborough. Mrs. Herbert Elworthy, of Craigmore, South Canterbury, is in Hawke ’a Bay to visit her daughters, Mrs. A. P White and Mrs. David Williams. Miss Jean Aid worth, of Hunterville, who has been spending a few days iu Auckland with her father and brother, has returned homo. After spending the holidays with .heir parents, Miss Margaret Oram, ot Palmerston North, has returned to Canterbury College University, and Miss Joan Jacobs to Otago University. The friends of Mrs. Guy Simpson, of Bulls, will be pleased to know that she has now been able to return home after her recent operation in a private hospital in Palmerston North. Miss Betty" Rutherford, Canterbury, wh-o is one of the New Zealand golfers who visited Australia for the championship tournament, was the subject d comment in the Sydney Morning Herald last week. “After all this ‘to be or not to be’ about women wearing slacks on the golf links, it was almost exciting to see Betty Rutherford appearing at the championship matches attired in immaculately tailored navy waterproof slacks and a matching raincoat,” says tho Herald. “She was definitely the driest spectator on those days when golfers thought angrily of the catchment area.”
