Fall of Earth Buries Workman

ACCIDENT IN MAKTJRI GORGE’ Yesterday afternoon while working on tho Public Works widening job in tho Makuri Gorge, George Turner, aged 45, married, of Pahiatua, was buried completely by a largo fall of earth on to tho road. Tho workmen heard the fall coming but Turner failed to clear and was struck while running away. Dr. E. B. Watson was called to the scene and it was found that the patient was suffering from two fractured thighs, an injury to his right knee, and shock. Ho was admitted by ambulance to the Pahiatua Public Hospital.
