Girl Citizens Offer Welcome to Miss B. Stuart
ASSISTANT Y.W.C.A. SECRETARY Last ovening Girl Citizens and their friends accorded a very cheery welcome to Miss Barbara Stuart, recently appointed assistant secretary to tho Pal merston North Y.W.C.A. Tho function took tho form of a “Spring Blossom and Mad Hatters” party, the rooms being appropriately decorated with spring blossom, bulbs and wattle, also multi-coloured streamers. Games, songs and competitions occupied the time very happily and a parade of Mad Hatters created much amusement, Miss Peggy Anderson being adjudged the winner. A treasure hunt provided further diversion.
Miss H. M. Saunders, general secre tary, extended a warm welcome to Miss Stuart, and Miss Joyce Gilberd (Chiet Citizen) offered a welcome on behalf ot the Citizens. Asking Miss Stuart’s ac acceptance of a bouquet, she assured hey she would have the whole-hearted cooperation of the girls and expressed the hope that sho would be happy in her new sphere. Miss Stuart briefly returned thanks and said already she was enjoying the work and sho felt sure she would bo happy in Palmerston North. Supper was enjoyed, during which interlude Miss Saunders voiced her pleasure .in welcoming friends of the Girl Citizens, Bne spoke of tho privileges of membership and invited those pre sent to come along and experience the fun of being a Girl Citizen. An enjoyable evening terminated with “Auld Lang Syne.”
