Final Gallops at Trentham

Per Press Association. ' WELLINGTON, March 16. The final galloping at Trentham this morning was confined mainly to sprinting tasks by horses who were not galloped yesterday. Much of it was very interesting. The weather was dull. The outside of the course proper and the plough were both fast, and the times on both were similar. On the plough the most notable Incident of the morning was the reluct ance of Stretto to start off from any post with Brunhilde. After they hAi fussed about Brunhilde went off alone down the straight. Stretto sedately walked down the straight till near the post where she dashed off and was not pulled up for three furlongs. Taken along to the half-mile she finally was induced to go, and she left that dis-i tance behind in 47 4-ssecs. A fine early gallop on this track was five furlongs by Laughing Lass and Oratory, the former being half a length in front all the way and registering 1.1, the last half-mile in 48secs. Accomplice was a neck ahead of Cricket after covering seven furlongs in 1.30, the last half-mile .in 52secs. Dancing Flame ran half a mile in 50 2-ssecs. Kindly accounted for half a mile in 51secs. Debham accounted for Sigurd by n good length over five furlongs in 1.3* the last half-mile in 49secs. Studley Royal strode over five furlongs in similar time, the last half mile in 50Secs. Whirling ran half a mile in 48secs. Paper Slipper remained with Lazy Bones in 50 4-ssecs. Rollicker did the last three furlongs in 36 3-ssecs. Brazen King always had a small advantage over Royal Chief over six furlongs in 1.14 4-5, the last half,-mile in 49 4-ssecs, the three-year-old making a futile effort in the last furlong to draw level. Spender came away from Parry at the end of six furlongs run in 1.17, the last half-mile in 51 2-ssecs. Davolo beat Mishna by half a length over half a mile in 49 2-ssecs. Rockingham and Leave did the last three furlongs in 37 2-5. Majority ran six furlongs in 1.19, ana Ned Cuttle did a mile in 1.47. On the Course Proper. Lady Ina was clear of Dunmanway throughout five furlongs in 1.3 3-5, the last half-mile in 49secs. Rarotonga slipped over half a mile in 48 3-ssecs. The best trial on this track was done by Francis Drake and Valmarch, who left Dictate at the end of half a mile in 47 3~sand Francis Drake, with the worst of the weights, just kept Vfctmarch at bay. Valmarch is very like her half-sister, Gold Boa, in appearance. The gallop was one of the last of the morning when the track was at its fastest. Copycat led Vadanoe throughout five furlongs, the last half mile in 49 3-ssecs. Gaily was pulling hard all the way anu could have improved a lot on 54secs to* the last half mile of a mile. Charade went particularly well for a highweight horse in doing the last half-mile in 48 secs. 9 Courtcraft did the last half mile (n 50secs. Relative ran half a mile in 48 sees. The Crooner attracted notice by tht ease with which he beat Silver River over seven furlongs in 1.32, the last half mile in 50 3-ssecs. Defaulter caught Spendthrift over the last furlong of a half-mile spin in 49secs. Silver River moved freely and pulled up well after a round of strong pacing. No scratchings have yet been announced, but Golden Ridge is ineligible for the Trial Plate. CHEVIOT TROTS. ACCEPTANCES.
