From Our Own CorrespondentTennis Club. The final match of the Te Kawau competition was played on Saturday, when Rongotea A team defeated Glen Oroua A team by 14 sets (92 games) to 2 sets (40 games). The following are the detailed results, local players being mentioned first:— Men's singles: R. Scott lost to R. Preb-ble,-H.-Churchill beat R. Algar, G. Tucker lost to S. Parlane, R. Gooch beat W. Scott. Women’s singles: Miss G. Eades beat Miss Hobbs, Miss J. Eades beat Miss N. Wheeler, Miss M, Scott beat Mrs Barker, Miss M. Fyfe beat Miss Scott. Men’s doubles: Scott and Churchill beat Prebble and Algar; Tucker and Gooch beat Parlane and Scott. Women’s doubles: Misses G. arid J. Eades beat Misses Hobbs and Wheeler; Misses Scott and Fyfe beat Mrs Barker and Miss J. Scott. Mixed doubles: Scott and Miss G. Eades beat Prebble and Miss Hobbs; Churchill and Miss J. Eades beat Algar and Miss Wheeler; Tucker and Miss Scott beat Parlane and Mrs Barker; Gooch and Miss Fyfe beat Scott and Miss- J. . Scott. At the wek-end'members of the local club journeyed to Levin to play the Levin Club for the Linklater Cup. and though soundly beaten by 20 sets, to 4, thoroughly enjoyed their day and, it is hoped, .profited by the valuable experience gained against such doughty ’ opponents as Mesdames Thompson and Adams. At the conclusion of the match, the president, Mr W. J. Amies, thanked the Levin Club, Dr. Thompson responding in happy vein and expressing the hope that this would be merely the first of many encounters.
