FIELDS AND PROSPECTS WIN-AND-PLACE BETTING The Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting opens at Paeroa to-day and will be Concluded on Saturday. The chief events on to-day’s card are the Ohinemuri Cup, the Hikutaia Hack Cup, the St. Patrick’s Handicap and the McGuire Steeplechase, and the acceptances, taken right through, indicate that there will be some very keen racing. Provision has been made to run the Awaiti Handicap at the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s meeting at Paeroa tomorrow, in two divisions if the starters exceed the safety number, in which case the stake will be increased to £250. The draw is as follows: — First Division. High Sea, Inquisitor, Aynho, Libra, General Riske, Poker Dice, Superior Guard, Forlorn, Hempton, Nuhara, Miss Clipper, Lucky Dick, Abbey Lass, Wild Nation. Second Division. Slam, Very Glad, Town Section, Gold Eagle, Lapidarian, Gael, British Nation, King Stroud, Australian Star, Shetland, Lady Kew, Simla, Feldberg. APPEAL UPHELD The appeal of the jockey L. H. Clifford against the decision of the judicial committee of the Franklin Racing Club in suspending him for two months on March 5 was upheld on Tuesday evening by the Auckland District Committee. It was resolved that the inquiry by the Franklin Racing Club was not conducted in accordance with the requirements of rule 333 of the Rules of Racing, and that the*appeal be upheld and the deposit of £5 bo refunded to the appellant. An appeal lodged by the jockey R. Horne against his suspension for two months by the judicial committee of the Franklin Racing Club was dismissed and the deposit lodged with the appeal forfeited.
