Death Sentence Demanded
TIRADE AT MOSCOW TRIAL United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. MOSCOW, Mardh 11. The prosecutor, M. Vishinsky, demanded 25 years’ imprisonment for Rakovsky and Bessonoff and the death sentence for the remaining 19 accused in the treason trial. M. Vishinsky denounced the prisoners in the most scathing language and declared that there had never been a case of such a disgusting chain of villainy. M. Yishinsky’s invegtive lasted for over two hours. He said that the prisoners were agents not of a single foreign intelligence but of at least four —the German, Japanese, English and Polish. M. Vishinsky in the course of his tirade against the prisoners said: “We cannot leave such people alive. I would ask for Yagoda’s head even if he were guilty of a millionth part of his crimes. The whole country demands the shooting of the traitors like mad dogs.” The audience applauded loudly at the end of the cut burst. SENTENCES IMPOSED MAJORITY TO DIE Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m. MOSCOW, March 13. Rakovsky was sentenced to 20 years ' imprisonment, Pletnoff to 25, Dessonoff to 15 and the remainder were sentenced to death.
