Mrs H. L. Eddie, Pahiatua, is visiting her mother, Mrs R. Wylie, Hawera.

Miss D. Lett, Palmerston North, is tho guest of Mr and Mrs J. A. Walsh, Pahiatua.

Mrs B. Holmes, Wanganui, is spending a holiday at Palmerston North, before proceeding to Wellington.

Miss H. Herrick, Hawke's Bay, is visiting her sister, Mrs John Elswor thy, Timaru.

Mrs. K. Mclntosh and Mrs. E. Cotter of Te Kuiti, are spending a short holiday in Palmerston North.

Mrs Prosser and Miss Olivo Prosser, who have been visiting Mrs S. F. Prosser, Russell street, have returned to their home at Masterton.

Miss Mary O’Farrell, Falmerstotf North, is the guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs M. O'Farrell, “West End," Plimmerton.

The death has occurred at Hastings of Mrs. Mary Ellen Epps, aged 75. She arrived at Timaru in 1863 as the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Whittaker in the Victory, one of the first four vessels to call at Timaru. Mrs. Epps leaves a family of four children.

Mrs. L. Wood, of Kowhai avenue, has returned from Napier, where she took part in the Hawke's Bay croquet tournament, and in the open championship was runner-up to Mrs. Watkins, tho Dominion champion. The ladies' championship was won by Mrs. Mitchell, formerly a member of the Manawatu Croquet Club.

Delegates to the annual conference of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, which is being held at Napier, are Miss C. Jamieson (president of the Palmerston North branch) and Miss Sutherland and Mrs. H. Paterson, Pahiatua district president. Mrs. Begg (secretary of the Palmerston North branch) is also attending.

At the meeting of St. Peter's branch of the Mothers’ Union, Rev. F. S. Ramson reported that a link between St. Peters' Mothers' Union and the Mothers' Union of St. Michael and All Angels, of the Diocese of St. David, Oastlemartin, Wales, had been formed by Rev. Whitby James, vicar of that parish, and a former vicar of St. Peter’s Church, Terrace End.
