Morning Tea Party For Miss V. Corliss
Members of the council of the Manawatu branch of the Registered Music Teachers' Association yesterday entertained Miss Valerie Corliss A.R.A.M., L.R.A.M., honorary Dominion organiser of the British Music Society, at a pleasant morning tea-party at the Rosco rooms. Miss Corliss, who has been visiting Palmerston North to form a branch of the B.M.S, was accomplished by her mother. At an opportune moment Mr. R. R. F. Jones apologised for the absence of the president, Mr. J. Holmes Runnicles, and extended a welcome to Miss Corliss.
Acknowledging the welcome Miss Corliss expressed her appreciation of meeting the council members at such a happy and intimate party. The memory of the enthusiastic meeting held the previous evening with its constructive and courageous utmosphere had given her a glow and great satisfaction that such a fine branch of the B.M.S. had come into being in Palmerston North, she said.
Others present were Mesdames B. F. Barlow, A. J. McNeilly, H. D. Howley, Attwood, Misses E. Rawlins, Southey Baker and M. Dean.
