Funeral Parade

A striking tribute to the memory of the late Mrs Francis by the bandsmen assembled in Palmerston North for the Dominion contest will be paid to-day*: when they will parade for the funeral procession. Only the Palmerston North Garrison and Wanganui Garrison Bands will hare their instruments, but all the visiting bandsmen will parade at Messrs Griggs and Son*s mortuary chapel in Main street, towards Princess street, and in Princess street. The cortege will pass along Broadway to the Bank. of. New Zealand eornor, and proceed. along Kangitikeo street, being led by the Palmrlrston North Garrison Band with the Wanganui Garrison Band in the rear. At Grey street each band will open formation and the succeeding bands will pass through. The pall-bearers will be Messrs E. Palliscr (president of the New Zealand Brass Bands* Association), J. G. Osborne (secretary), W. P. MacLachlan and A. G. Homer (supervisors), A. E. Mansford (chairman of the local committee), and E. P. Kerry (judge).

Mrs Francis was the mother of the conductor of the Wanganui Garrison Band (Mr Reaney Francis) and Mr Roy Francis, a cornetest in the band. Her husband, Mr A. Francis, also plays the cornet in the same combination.
