Fraser, last night issued a statement denying that there is the slightest foundation in the report from Auckland that members of the police force there strongly resented certain recent transfers claiming they amounted to the victimisation of prominent member* of the newly-formed Police Association. ‘‘lt is difficult to understand how any sensible person could fabricate such nonsense,” said the Minister. He explained that cordial relations had always existed between himself and the Police Association in the past and would continue in the future. The Minister also said that the statement that Commissioner Cummings had aofc been helpful in hastening the smooth running of the association was also incorrect and grossly unfair to the , Commissioner, who had been particularly helpful and friendly towards tho Association.
