From Our Own Correspondent Sports Artivities. Messrs. W. McKenzie Jnr., president of the Apitl Athletic Sports Club, and C. H. Osborne and T. W. Pratt, secretaries, met during tho week to further the arrangements for the annual sports meeting on j Wednesday, March 3. Copies of the sports I programme have been sent to various 'sports bodies and to former competitors land it is hoped that the entries for the 1 athletic events will be in -the hands of the secretary by Friday, February 26. The Apiti Tennis Club had a bye in the Haythorne Cup coompetltion on Saturday last. The next match is to be played on ! the local courts on Saturday next against ja team from the Kangiwahia Club. Golfers and intending golfers are reI minded of the Apitl Golf Club’s annual t meeting, particulars of which are advertised. The district is indeed experiencing a topsy-turvey summer us regards weather. There was snow on parts of the Ruahines at the week-end and as there were sever- . ;il showery days, conditions were decidedly wiatry. Harvesting is not yet over, and it is an unusual sight to see the ranges snowcapped before the hay is in. Several crops have been lying out for over a week awaiting suitable weather for stacking. Personal. Mrs Lingurd, with her daughter Beth, aro visitors from Rata staying with Mr and Mrs Colin Spence. Miss Leslie, Miss Purnell and Colonel W. Leslie are enjoying their North Island motor tour and aro ut present staying at Tauranga.
