Wednesday’s Wedding at Rewa
KIDNER—WATT. At the local Presbyterian Church early on Wednesday afternoon the wedding was celebrated of Jean Logan, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Watt, of Rewa, and John C. Kidner, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. T. McFarlanc, of Cheltenham. Great interest centred in the union of the -young people and friends had gathered quantities of pink and blue flowers to docorato the church and had made a beautiful bell of hydrangeas for them to stand under during the ceremony which was performed by Rev. Mr. McCullough. Tho bride, who -was given away by her father, wore a very graceful gown of white lace, slim-fitting qnd having a train appliqued with satin in a lovely design of lilies. Her tulle veil, which formed a soft silhouette, was held to her head with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of lilies.
Her sister, Mrs. Weston Smith, who was matron of honour, wore a most at- 1 tractive trained frock of cream cloquc' and a leghorn picture hat- finished with' delphinium blue ribbon velvet. Miss Gwen Illston, of Auckland, was bridesmaid, and her pretty robe of delphinium blue cloque had short puffed sleeves and was slightly trained. Both she and Mrs. Weston Smith carried sheaves of delphiniums. Mr. W. Watt, tho bride’s brother, was best man and Mr. Weston Smith was groomsman. The' reception that took place afterwards was in the Rewa hall which presented a very , festive aspect with its colourful streamers and beautifully decorated tables. A sumptuous wedding breakfast was served and the threettiered cake was a particularly handsome one. The adornment of the tables was effected with bluo and pink sweet peas. Some 200 guests from far and ' near wero reeeiv’cd by Mr. and Mrs. Watt, the latter wearing a distinctive brown frock veined with gold, a hat to match- and carrying an autumn-tinted bouquet. Mrs. McFariane, grandmother of the bridegroom, was in a navy tailored suit and wore a hat to tone. Her posy was of blue flowers. The reception was an outstandingly jolly one and various toasts wero enthusiastically honoured.. The groat array of beautiful wedding presents was displayed in the hall and occasioned a great deal of interest and'admiration. After receiving the congratulations of their friends, the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, the bride’s going away frock boing a smart model in brown with touches of gold lame and her hat and accessories were in-a matching shade.
