dannevirke tournament OPENED UNDER WINTRY CONDITIONS.

MRS. RUSSELL HEADS LIST FOR QUALIFYING ROUND.

After being postponed from last •week because of the “blizzard/' the Dannevirke ladies’ golf tournament opened yesterday under conditions which could easily have been more pleasant. There was hail and heavy rain during the morning, after which the weather cleared somewhat. Thoro were further showers, however, during the afternoon and the players were really “up against it” all day. The course was in excellent order but good figures were hard to secure under the conditions.

The leading scores in the qualifying round, played during the morning, were as under, the first eight being drawn for the championship and the next for the Tahoraite Handicap:— Southern Hawke’s Bay Championship.
