Doctor Impersonated
POUR YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT
LONDON, Dec. 17,
Ernest Pease Freeman, who was alleged to have iosed as Dr. Louis Kabinov, of Melbourne, was sentenced to lour years’ imprisonment lor false pretences at Birmingham. Superintendent Baguley stated that Freeman got in touch with Dr. Rabinov in Melbourne in 1934, and, it is believed, took a copy of his diploma. Freeman in 1909 studied medicine in Chicago while employed as a clerk, but Ihere was no record of him in the American Medical Register. The defence pointed out that since his arrest Freeman had paid £4OO ti his Birmingham creditors. It was alleged that'Freeman bought a practice for £2U, joined the local panel, and attended to insured people, and, though he was not a doctor, built up tiie practice, which he sold for £7OO.
