From Our Own Correspondent. Bowling and Croquet Clubs' Opening Day. On Wednesday the above clubs held their opening day, but, owing to the unsettled weather conditions, there was not tho usual number of visitors present. I Mr J. Perrett opened both greens. In i his remarks ho said ■ there would have I been a larger attendance if tho conditions - had been more suitable and he was ploas- ' ed to say that both greens wore in splendid order, hut stressed the point of more members being required for both clubs. | Mr W. A. Doughty (patron) of tho Croquet Club hit the first ball through the hoops, and Mrs W. I-I. Stevens threw up 'Kitty and put tho first bowl on the-bowl-j ing green. I In the croquet golf competition Mesdarnes D, Howard and B. Y. Wilson tied, Mrs Wilson winning the play off.' On the bowling green Smart, Perrett, Drew, Ingram (skip) 17, defeated Edo, Ransom,- Wilson, Stevchs (skip) 15. The. ladies provided an enjoyable afternoon tea. Mr M. H. Oram Speaks at Bulls. Mr M, H. Oranx, Democrat candidate, spoke at Bullti on Wednesday night, to a largo audience, Mr F. A. Holland being in tho chair, - . The speaker received an attentive hearing. and ti-avelled-along the' lines of his address which has been previously published. At tho conclusion of ills speech, I Mr Oram answered many questions to tho satisfaction of enquirers, and was accorded tt hearty vote of thanks. Local Trinity College of Music Successes, The following pupils of St. Francis' Convent in Bulls and Marton took part and were successful in the examination] held on behalf of the above College:— Senior Division: Joyce Smith (singing) 81, honours; Hubert O’Connell (pianoforte) 80, honqurs, . , Junior Division: June Hammond (pianoforte), 72. Advanced Preparatory Division: Margaret Blanchard (elocution), 71. Preparatory Division: Teresa Foote (elocution) 81, honours; Avis Grant, (elocution), 72, First Steps Division: Mavis Faulding (elocution), 7G; June McDonald (elocution) 6.

Initial Division: Noel Morgan (pianoforte) 85, honours.
