Paddy's Market
In the best of times, to raise funds is a problem, but in these days it is real hard work. However, true to their tradition to smile under all difficulties, the Giri Guides, Scouts and Bo vers of Palmerston North are making a ficombined effort with this end iu view. On Saturday, November 23, at the Empire hall, an appeal to the public will be made in the form of a huge Paddy’s market. The opening ceremony will be performed by nis Worship the Mayor at 2 o’clock. As the committees of each troop and company are conducting a stall, theie will be quite a variety to please one and all—fancy work, sweets, cakes, books, flowers, etc., being for sale. Those in search of Christinas gifts should bo sure to arrive early' to procure the many bargains. Ice . cream, soft drinks, afternoon tea and supper arrangements are in the capablo hands of tho Guides and Scouts’ executives. As the Paddy’s market is continuous till ten in the evening, hot pies will bo available for those who find itt n o attractive to leave. One of tho many attractions will bo a tug-of-war by the Brownies and Cubs in tho afternoon and in tho evening Hie Guides aud Scouts, with an'extra Guido for luck.
As admission to this function is free both in tho afternoon and evening, a largo gathering is anticipated and the pubLic are reminded that no matter for whom they vote, they will be helping a worthy cause by coming along to the Empire hall to-monow and supporting those who are evei willing to help others—tho Guides and Brownies, Scouts, Cubs and Rovers of Palmerston North.
