Navy League's Essay Prizewinners
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The results of the Wellington Navy League’s Palmer prize essay competition were announced to-day. The subjects were: Senior, ‘ ‘ W’hat is Britain’s wisest course to secure world peace?” Intermediate: ‘‘The British submarine campaign in the Dardanelles.” Junior: “Wireless, the friend of the mariner.” The results -were: Senior boys: AVinner, Thomas Allen Ross, W’aitaki Boys' High School; next in merit, John Mason Gouid, Takapuna Grammar School, and Donald Campbell Gray, Scots College. W’cilingtoii.
Girls: Winner, Mario Donaldson, Selivy n High School, Christchurch; next in merit,. Marion Caleott, District High School, To Karaka, and Mary Kemp, Diocesan High School, Auckland. Intermediate boys: Winner, .Douglas Earl Reid, W’aitaki Boys’ High School; next in merit, Malcolm R. Renn-Foord, John McGlashani College, Dunedin, and Pcrcival Johnston, District High School, Marlon.
Girls: Winner. Shirley Roe, High School, Rotorua; next in merit, Selma England, Whangarei High School, and Margaret Smith, Granity District High School.
