Nearly 45,000 Welsh Miners on Strike

HUNGER STRIKERS RETURN TO SURFACE

United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 19. Between 35,000 and 40,000 miners are now reported on strike in the South Wales coalfields in defiance of their leaders and in sympathy with the Nine-Mile strikers. After remaining underground for a week the Nine-Mile miners decided to accept the recommendation of their union and return to the surface. Crowds cheered them emerging from the pits. Some of them are remarkably well.
