From Our Owd Correspondent. Defence Rifle Club. Members of the Ashhursl Defence Rifle Club were again fortunate with the weather on Saturday. Bright sunshine and a light though tricky wind prevailed. Shooting was over the 300 yards and 50(1 yards ranges, the scoring at the former range being very much below standard. A decided improvement, however, was experienced at tho 500 yards. F. Booking, a visitor from Cheltenham Club, registered tho best total of the day with 63. Detailed scores were as follow: F. Booking 32, 31, 63; C. Thomson 28, 30, 58; J. Searlo 26, 31, 57; R. Algi© 25, 31, 56; C. Mayhew 25, 31, 56; S. .T. Brookie 21,' 31, 55; F. Bassett 24, 30, 54; C. Brewer 25, 20, 54; M. Hausemann 26, 26, 52; S. Dawe 24, 25, 49; R. Doreen 12, 14. 26. Mext Saturday a visit will be paid the local range by members of the Dinton and Pohangina Clubs, when the arrangements for the Greer shield competition will bo finalised. A team from tho local club will fire a friendly match with tho visitors. General. Sheep farmers locally arc taking advantage of the fine spell of weather, and the docking of lambs is in full swing Shearing operations are to commence shortly.
