Gift Evening at Kiwitea

The popularity of Miss Brenda Banks was evidenced on Friday evening when a great crowd of town and country friends assembled in the hall to do her honour in view of her marriage in October to Mr Darcy McGregor. Kiwitea settlers had arranged the evening with dancing for the young folk aiul bridge for their ciders, and the occasion was immensely enjoyed by all. Spring flowers in profusion were used to decorate the stage and supper room aud professional' musicians provided the liveliest of dance numbers. Mr Maurice Pirani, ofFeilding, played the extras, and Mr T. E. Crainc, his son Stewart and Mr C. L. Williams were' in charge of the proceedings, which were carried through right merrily. Before supper Mr T. It. Taylor requested the guest of honour to take possession of and open the large array of parcels taken along for her acceptance. This procedure revealed a great number of very beautiful and useful gifts for which, on b*fe#l£ of his fiancee, Mr McGregor warmly thanked her friends. Musical honours followed, and after supper dancing continued till about one o’clock. Miss Banks looked charming in a pretty little frock of black face and carried a posy of delicate pink and •cream flowers and maidenhair fern, presented her by Master Perry Taylor.
