Wedding of Interest To Feilding, Taihape and Wanganui

A wedding of special interest to Fcilding, Taihape and Wanganui took placo on Saturday, September 7, at St. Agnes’ Church, Aramolio, tho bride being Kathleen Agnes, eider daughter of Mr and Mrs J. 11. Gilchrist, ICimbolton road, Fcilding( and grand-daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Fairfield Thompson, of Fcilding), and tho bridegroom Leslie, fifth son of Mrs Stevens, Sydney place, Wanganui, and tho late Mr Stevens. The church had been very prettily decorated for the occasion, friends having chosen white and pink flowers to touo with tho frocks of the bride and her attendant.

Miss Gilchrist was given • away by her father and wore a lovely frock of ivory marocain and lace. The long lace sleeves terminated at the wrists with flares formed by insets of marocain, and both tho corsage and skirt were eifectively inset with lace. A soft cowl draped the neckline and the brido wore a string of pale pink pearls. Her long veil of iiucst tulle (lent by the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs Henry Smith, of Wanganui), fell as a train from a narrow bandeau of pink and blue flowers, and she carried a bouquet of white iilies tied with pale pink and white ribbon. ller< only sister, Miss Wynne Gilchrist, was bridesmaid and wore a pretty frock of salmon pink crepe silk with sleeves puffed to the elbows and a cape collar, the frills of which wero edged with lace. The front of the bodice had a narrow panel studded with diamante buttons and the hem of the skirt was finished with a lace-edged frill. Her narrow Eash fell in long ends at the back and her hat was of pink feft lightly relieved with white. Long white gloves were also worn and white sandals, while tho bouquet carried was of pink roses, freesias and fern, with streamers of pink ribbon. Mr H. F. Gilchrist, of Taihape (brother of the bride), was best man.

After the ceremony the guests, of whom there were over 40, adjourned to the home of the bridegroom’s mother, where refreshments were served and the usual toasts wero honoured. The tables wero charmingly decorated with white and pink flowers and the ornamienlation of the wedding cake was carried out in silver.

Mrs Gilchrist was attired in brown suede crepe patterned in white loaves and flowers, and she wore a hat to match and carried a posy of roses and freesias. Mrs Stevens was gowned in black crepe dc chiuo with white vestee and wore a small black hat, her posy being in pink and white colouring.

When the bride and bridegroom later left to spend their bouoymoou in the South, the bride was wearing a frock of navy crepe do chine, witli white cowl collar, a navy hat and tailored coat, gloves and handbag to match. Among the guests were Mrs L. I’. Vail (Feilding), an aunt of tlio bride, who wore a blue floral frock and brown hat and coat, Mr and Mrs D. Thompson, of Marten (uncle and aunt of the bride), Mrs Thompson being in brown and white spotted silk, with hat and coat to tone; Miss Joyce Thompson, navy and green ensemble; Mrs K. Sullivan (Feilding), Mrs T. S. Davies (Mataroa), Mr and Mrs McKee and Mrs Crossman (Wanganui), Mrs MeCullock (Ohingaeniti), Mr and Mrs T. Fletcher (Palmerston North), and Miss Mary Wing (Marton).
